10 Superheroes that Time Forgot

All of the ten superheroes were released sometime between 1939-1990 by Marvel. Some characters have been modernized as can be seen in Marvel comics or movies. Depending on how much of a comic nerd you are, most of these superheroes are not well-known. Find out what ones you didn’t know about!

1. Namor the Sub-Mariner

Released in 1939 inside Marvel comics, this character was like a superman of the sea. He has the abilities of swimming, breathing underwater, flying, and other superhuman powers of the sorts (like super strength).

2. Blazing Skull

Blazing skull, released in 1941, can turn his flesh invisible so only his bones show--similar to a walking skeleton. Not only is that an out-of-the-ordinary power, but Blazing Skull can also heal himself! Those aren't the end to all of his powers; he is immune to fire, has superhuman strength, and can project flames.

3. Ghost Rider

Ghost Rider has been the name of many ‘bad guys’ throughout the years. Yes, I realize he’s not a superhero but his backstory is pretty interesting. In 1972-1983, Johnny Blaze was the Ghost Rider--and he’s the Ghost Rider we’re going to focus on. Trying to save his father’s life, he gives his soul to the devil. Then one day after his father's death, was turned into a skeleton with a blazing skull. Due to all of the drama he joins a motorcycle gang. Pretty sad story, actually.

4. Wasp

Wasp is not only the founder of The Avengers, but she can also alter her physical state--either by shrinking or growing. Along with her name, she can give out electrical impulses which are called “stinger blasts”. Not only does she have these two awesome powers, but she can also control and talk--via telepathy--to insects.

Fun Fact- Wasp starred in a flashback scene in 2015’s movie Ant-Man.

5. Morbius the Living Vampire

Morbius the Living Vampire does not possess all the powers of a normal vampire; he is a pseudo-vampire. The powers he retains include: superhuman powers (strength, agility, endurance, etc.), the ability to control lesser beings, being able to rejuvenate from moderate injuries, and liquidizing his body and reforming it. He can also roam around in daylight with the only consequence of diminished powers for that period of time. Unlike a ‘real’ vampire he remains unaffected by holy water, garlic, or crucifixes.

6. Banshee

Banshee can fly faster than the speed of light and can carry up to one person with him. However, his main weapon is his voice. His powers include having superhuman vocal cords, lungs, and a throat. This enables him to make sonic sounds and vibrations along with deafening noises. With selective hearing, he can also tune in to secret conversations. Banshee is unaffected by his own sounds because of this selective hearing. He can just block out all noise--including his own. The only exception to this is when he is pushed beyond his limits.

7. Havok

Havok has powerful, uncontrollable, plasma blasts--which are very destructive. He can concentrate these plasmablasts in a specific direction. The glowing blue circle on his chest is an indication of his energy level remaining. Once all of his energy is gone, it takes 17 hours to recharge. Not only does Havok have plasmablasts, but he also has super-strength, above average height, and a good education.

8. Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange is an ex-surgeon and current magician working to protect the world from evil. He draws his magical powers from other people to perform spells. Morbius is in possession of the Cloak of Levitation (to make him fly), the Eye of Agamotto (which rejects evil magic), the Orb of Agamotto (a crystal ball), and the Book of the Vishant (which contains knowledge of white magic). If you think he’s pretty interesting, then you’ll be excited to hear that a movie about Doctor Strange is planned to come out in 2016!

9. Gambit

In simple terms, Gambit can change an inanimate object's energy from potential energy to kinetic energy; making it highly explosive. To charge an object, he must be in direct contact with it. His favorite thing to charge are playing cards because he can throw them. Not only does he have this awesome power, but he also has a great amount of charm and, like every other superhero, superhuman abilities. ie. strength, flexibility, endurance, speed, and other things of the sort.

10. Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler has teleportation powers, extreme flexibility, extreme coordination, and also suction cups as a part of his hands for climbing and agility. Not to mention he also has night vision and can blend into the dark with his indigo colored skin. No wonder he's called nightcrawler.
